I'm just back from my local Dollar General (store #06077 in Des Moines, Iowa) where I scarfed up a bag of Tostitos brand tortilla chips, Tostitos salsa and two cans of Amp energy drink. And I don't even drink Amp. But I figured my $10.84 total purchase (including gummy bears and a candy bar for Mrs. pressdog) is an investment in keeping Sarah Fisher on the track.
To make sure, I had the following word-for-word exchange with Sue, the checkout person:
Me: (Unshaven and wearing my IndyCar jacket and pointing to the image of Sarah on the little change mat on the counter) "I'm a big fan of Sarah Fisher."
Sue: "Oh, uh huh."
Me: "That's why I'm here."
Sue: (Continues scanning my stuff in silence.)
Store 06077 was all Sarah Fisher point-of-purchase tricked out, with a big sign in the window, a life-sized "standee," "aisle violators" (little signs that stick out from the shelves that hold the Frito-Lay products), and a sign on the door.
Now, after I use the code on my receipt to register my purchase online at www.dollargeneral.com, I could be one of TEN people to win a trip for two to the Indy 500.
The other golden opportunity here for Fish Heads like me is to help generate volume in sales and in online registrations on the site. The more online registrations, the louder the message to Dollar General that Sarah's fans support her with their purchase decisions, which is what validates their investment in her sponsorship. BAM.
So get to the nearest Dollar General today and buy stuff, especially Frito-Lay products and Amp. Click for more details. For the location of the nearest Dollar General store, click here.

Pressdog: I just visited our nifty little Dollar General here in Ames. I picked up two bags of chips on my mission from Pressdog. I'll soon be typing in my code and crossing my fingers for a trip to Indy.

Go K dog! I knew she was bringing a second car to Indy. Maybe as a backup, and if she gets hers in the show maybe she has someone up her sleeve to drive the second car. Hope so. I'll be at Indy this year and will most likely have to tranq dart myself regularly to keep from bursting into blogger flames.

Even since she first earned their sponsorship, I've wanted to make a purchase at a Dollar General store specifically so I could support Sarah Fisher. Unfortunately, all three of the Denver-area stores are located in the northwestern suburb of Arvada while I'm located in southeast Denver 16 miles away. Thanks to your encouragement, I will finally get off my butt and make the trip this weekend.

Gregory ... tears in my eyes ... make that trip to Arvada secure in the righteousness of your cause and knowing you are having a direct, measurable impact on keeping your fav driver on the track. And, if you're taking someone with you on the trip, have them go into the store and buy Frito-Lays or AMP separately, then you can register BOTH codes on line and double dip for Sarah (and have more chances to win the trip). Or you could drive around the block and go back in and buy again if by yourself. My store is also out of the way for me (not like yours, but still about 50 blocks east of my house), but I'm on my way again this week for more chips. That'll be trip three to a store I never set foot inside before this contest. You gotta work it, baby. I know, for a fact, for real, no bullshit, that Sarah appreciates it.
