Confidential informants Monday said VERSUS has been flooded with inquiries by major sports leagues who are looking for "a network that just basically swallows whatever we put out without asking a bunch of pesky questions."
The barrage of interest came after VERSUS simply accepted that a yellow flag thrown for "debris" during an IndyCar race Saturday was legit.
While viewer-serving networks might take 60 seconds to show the audience the debris being picked up, VERSUS invested the time in commercials and zero-critical commentary about the upcoming pit stops.
"We loved the commitment to the partnership," said one major sport representative that asked not to be named. "The way VERSUS didn't even question whether the yellow was phantom or otherwise artificial -- that's a rare quality. That shows they are on-board as real partners and not letting the bothersome fans dictate what they do. The networks that carry our games are always going to slow motion and analyzing and replaying all of our officials' calls. With VERSUS, it would be like 'Holding negating a touchdown? If you say so!"
Officials from the National Hockey League, however, were a bit perplexed by the development. The NHL is televised by VERSUS as well.
"VERSUS is always doing instant replay and even accusing our refs of getting things wrong," said a hockey official who asked not to be named. "For some reason IndyCar gets a major pass, so much so that they can't even spare a camera to show us the debris that dramatically altered the course of the contest. We can't reconcile that and why a slashing call during our games gets all kinds of replay."

You can get betting odds on both Wrestlemania & the Indy 500. That means.... uh ......... I don't know .........

I debated using the disclaimer ... the most stinging part of this satire is that a noticeable number of people would believe it is true without the disclaimer.
