Jack Arute, master of the cheese grater, is asking for fans' ideas on props he can use to make salient points during a VERSUS IndyCar broadcast.
Jack's use of the grater to show how tires throw off marbles was art. I doubt that can be topped. But last week's use of a race helmet and bowling balls to illustrate G forces was genius as well. Another of my personal favorites was his brandishing an ear of corn to show what ethanol is made of.
Now Jack is asking fans for prop ideas. Seriously. Yes, what Jack uses for props IS YOUR BUSINESS.
Just go to his blog HERE and read how you can become famous by suggesting a useful prop.

I just want a return of the $2 wooden dowel rod that teams use to poke the fueller in the back when they're performing a timed pit stop. Those are some of my all time favorite Jack bits. "THIS...is the actual rod!"

With all the talk about Simona's fire at Texas, and the safety crew response, one aspect that has not received enough coverage is what exactly it takes for the driver to get themselves out of the cockpit.
I suggest that Jack be suspended upside down in a straight jacket, and give us his Harry Houdini like interpretation of escaping from an IndyCar.
If that's not illustrative enough they could always suspend him over a campfire.

Tom G. - That's an excellent idea for a sidebar story! I'm not sure about the Houdini routine, but demonstrating all the things that are involved and need to be disconnected and gotten out of the way for a driver to get out of a car (harness, HANS device, communication wire, head restraint mounted to the cockpit, steering wheel). Except don't have Jack in the car, have Lindy - she looks far better in a firesuit than Jack, even better than DeLana Harvick, although maybe not as good as the IZOD girl. Hmmm, maybe Lindy and the IZOD girl would just have to fight it out, but I digress...
