Holy flippity flop. When sprint cars get together, one or more often goes end-over-end giving the driver the racing equivalent of an enraged bull ride.
The front axle on Erin Crocker's sprint car broke during a heat race at Knoxville Raceway Thursday night causing her to slide into another car. Wheel interlock meant Erin was cleared for liftoff, doing about six "endos."
Erin's husband, Ray Evernham, got to witness the crash up close from the pit area. Pretty certain I would have crapped my pants if my wife took that wild ride.
Fortunately Erin walked away with just a bit of soreness and tweeted about it Friday (@crockerin) and Evernham (@skiprec) reportedly did not fill his pants.

Dear Erin ... the Iowa State Fair Board of Directors called ... they'd like their thrill ride back.

Judas H. Priest on a Palomino. That is one wicked-ass festival of flipping sprint car, isn't it? Some crazy shit. Glad Erin is OK.

Amazing stuff...20-30 years ago, we'd be writing obits after a crash like that. Good thing NASCAR invented the HANS device and SAFER barriers! ;)
