Dear IZOD: Deploy The Weapon -- Cameron

Preamble: I had el bizarro dream last night. I was having lunch with a fully fire-suited Cameron Haven, a.k.a. IZOD Trophy Girl, and George Costanza from Seinfeld. And Cameron had a head cold. WTF?

Anyway, I took that as a sign that I should bust off this post that I've been mulling since I interviewed Cameron for a post on the IndyCar Centennial Tour.

First, huge ups to IZOD for their support of the trip and IndyCar in general. I've bought IZOD stuff on purpose because of it (and you should too), and their sponsorship drives me to manly tears.

Second, IZOD should make better use of Cameron. Yeah, yeah, I know people will think I'm a stalker, but it's not true. Dude, I'm old enough to be Cameron's dad and been happy married for 25 years, so let's move on from the pervy vibe, 'kay?

I've interviewed Cameron twice now (and I used to interview people for a living), once in the phone and once in person, and she has crazy mad media skillz.

I'm no high-power marketer or anything, but what you got here is a highly attractive woman with a trophy brain (3.9 college GPA!) who can talk for 45 minutes with nary an "um" or "like" or "sort of." Easily as good as the best driver I have ever interviewed. This is a woman who's beautiful inside and out.

So here's my idea: at each race Panther Racing always hosts tons of uniformed National Guardspeople due to their NG sponsorship. I think IZOD and Panther should arrange to have Cameron pop in to the Panther hospitality tent at every race, talk to the group for a few minutes to thank them on behalf of herself and IZOD for serving, then meet and greet, do the autograph and photos thing and generally rock the house.

Basically an extension of her most excellent centennial tour work, which gives her huge cred. Cameron has been there, saw the situation and felt the love for the servicemen and women.

The men will love Cameron at first sight and the women will love her the second she starts talking. BAM. I usually charge for this stuff.I ran this idea by Cameron and she dug it in a big way. Good to go. Locked and loaded. That's how Women of pressdog® roll, homes.

So send Cameron into the hospitality tent like a cruise missile delivering huge payload of THANK YOU. Insert body-armored troops shedding manly and womany tears here.

seems like Izod signed a woman for basically her looks, but lucked into finding a smart person who would be a good ambassador for the sport.

since they have her, they may as well deploy her. be nice to have a "trophy girl" who can actually promote the series instead of just being a pretty but silent face.

Thanks Concerned. Agreed Redd. No doubt Cameron is hot (and even hotter in person) but she understands that to some extent models are successful because they hit the genetic lotto. As impressive as she is physically, she's even more so when she starts talking.
