TAG HEUER'S REBELS CAMPAIGN TO FEATURE SHANNON MCINTOSH
Rising American Athlete Featured alongside Hollywood Actor In New Campaign
GENEVA, SWITZERLAND (Jan. 23, 2012) - Avant-garde Swiss watchmaker TAG Heuer announced today the "Time for Rebels" exhibition which is in alignment with the launch of a new TAG Heuer collection and is set to feature rising American racer Shannon McIntosh and an A-list Hollywood actor.
The TAG Heuer "Time for Rebels" campaign debuted in Geneva, Switzerland during The SIHH Geneva International Fair of Fine Watchmaking where worldwide luxury group LVMH, through its subsidiary TAG Heuer, hosted an exclusive exhibition, coinciding with the introduction of the 2012 luxury Swiss timepiece collection. The campaign imagery depicts compositions of male and female portraits featuring personalities TAG Heuer considers as rebels for their acts, attitude and for what they stand for.
McIntosh, a 22-year-old from Miamisburg, Ohio, is being groomed by INDYCAR to be the next champion American female racing driver, following the departure of Danica Patrick from the IZOD IndyCar Series® and Indianapolis 500®. Already being profiled by the likes of Sports Illustrated, ESPN and FOX Sports, McIntosh is well positioned to take the thrown as a serious contender in the sport of American autoracing as she moves up the ranks in the "Mazda Road to Indy."
While McIntosh began her racing career at age 5, continuing her pursuit of INDYCAR has been a struggle at times given her modest upbringing. She has instead learned to leverage the business side of motorsports to help raise capital to fund her racing pursuits, recently landing a multi-year sponsorship contract with TrueCar.com.
In late 2011, Mashable.com, the popular American news site and Internet news blog with over 50 million monthly page views, named McIntosh one of seven "Must-Follow Athletes on Social Media" while SEVENTEEN magazine, the iconic fashion and beauty magazine for 13 million teen girls each month, named McIntosh one of five finalists in the Hearst Publication's 2011 search for "Pretty Amazing" women, which also included a docu-reality special profiling McIntosh's youth and unusual occupation in a prime-time special on MTV.
The benchmark in cutting-edge chronographs and timekeeping technology since 1860, TAG Heuer's curated "Time for Rebels" thereby merges in a unique way a strong commitment for a better planet and lifestyle, as well as benefiting an environmental charity.
A distinctive aspect of TAG Heuer's "Time for Rebel" campaign is the support in Green Cross International's SMART WATER FOR GREEN SCHOOLS Program, which places the fulfillment of the right to safe drinking water and sanitation at the center of sustainable development by equipping schools with rainwater harvesting systems and providing ecological sanitation facilities to these communities.
