Sports car driver and Woman of pressdo® Shea Holbrook wants her fellow female drivers to be proud of their symbolically steel reproductive parts.
In a saucy play on male racers' fondness of indicating their courage by referring to their reproductive organs as being either HUGE or made of steel (or both), Shea and her partners have created SteelOvaryNation.com, a web site that celebrates the courageous woman.
"That took some ovaries to do because I wasn't really excited to do it — but I did it," Patrick said. (Story here.) To which I said to myself ... "that took STEEL OVARIES."
Some info from Shea about the site is below. Check it out. If you're male, be a brovary. If you're female, get yourself some stainless steel ovaries and go out and kick some ass. I'm happy to support the movement because all women of pressdog most definitely have steel ovaries. For more on Shea, read my interview here. News release below ...
The New Social Media Campaign, #SteelOvaryNation Launches Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at 3:00pm eastern.
The concept of “Steel Ovary Nation” started with a tweet. Racecar driver Shea Holbrook founded the Twitter hashtag #SteelOvaryNation when she came across a tweet regarding the winner of the 2013 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Daytona:
Shea knew she started something when a string of tweets using the hashtag #SteelOvaryNation took off. Due to the energetic response from the fans and the support of women in motorsports the www.SteelOvaryNation.com website was established. Shea collaborated with girlfriend, Amanda Martin, founder of Female Racing News to launch the social media campaign.
#SteelOvaryNation is a brand representing female drivers, engineers, mechanics, broadcasters, bloggers, fans, car and motorsport gurus. The percentage of women in motorsports is small but their impact is large. This brand encompasses tough, dedicated, compassionate and influential people in motorsports who happen to be women.
