Welcome to Milka Duno Fever! It's a fab day at the Kansas Speedway in tony Kansas City, KS. If you've never been to an Indy Car race, you gotta, gotta, gotta go to one. Worth a multi-hour drive. Far more goosebumps moments and surging, bubbling, crackling testosterone highs in person. Derek Daly says TV takes so much speed out of racing. He's right. Rush to your computer  right now and find a place to stay and grab tickets to the Indy 500. Do it NOW.

pressdog's beers of the race are track beers! pressdog is in the house for this race. Twenty-four-ounce cans of Budweiser (June-yer's beer) and  Miller Lite (swilled in honor of the old Super Deuce, Rusty "Crazy Cat" Wallace). Nothing beats an ice-cold track beer fished up from the very bottom of the ice-and-water vendor's tank.

Dixon Gets a Drive Through, Milka Beats 7 Cars

Greetings from Khan-zahs. Milka Duno is giving a press conference even as I type. I'm getting about every fifth word because of the accent. Very heavy. But, Milka held up pretty well today. Didn't get in the way of anyone. Finished 14th, six laps down and in front of seven cars.

The verdict on Milka in and around the drivers is that she did pretty well. Surprised a lot of people. Even race winner Dan Wheldon, who read my Captain Hairdo thing and thought it was funny, said "some people were skeptical about Milka Duno but I think she performed pretty well, considering."

I spent much of the race in the Target Chip Ganassi pits. Met the Chipster! Didn't recognize my name. Har. Chipster said "We gave something up in qualifying now I hope we get it back." Kind of did, considering the TCGR cars bitchslapped the field.

pressdog is in the house here at Kansas Speedway in tony Kansas City, KS. Indy Car practice sessions are over and we're waiting for the amusing NASCAR trucks to get done with their qualifying efforts.

So, first off, I love the smell of ethanol exhaust in the morning. Reminds me of my sprint car watching days. Glorious.

I'm here in the Media Center. The holiest of holies for the Race Media. Somehow someone was on the Patron and I got in here. Don't question it, go with it.

So I'm the "new media" boy in the room. The under-cover blogger if you will.

Fisher Diary: Sponsors, Shopping, Motegi

Sarah Fisher writes: "Japan will be our third stop on the IndyCar Series circuit and prior to it will be the longest stretch of time that our series will be idle (at least on the track) after our swing through Florida. Notes from the Champ Car Grand Prix of Houston 2007

Notes taken during the ESPN broadcast of the Champ Car World Series race in Houston April 22, 2007.

We got a lead in from bowling! ESPN had some wacky bowling trick shot competition on in front of the race.

pressdog beer of the race is Shiner Bock, brewed in Shiner, Texas. West of Houston. Yeeee-haw.

Baseball flamethrower Roger Clemmons is in the house to give The Command: "Drivers, start your engines."

Rick Benjamin is back in the booth. The NBC guys are dispatched. Rick says this could be the rubber match between Sebastien Bourdais and new rival Will Power. 

Notes from Motegi Madness 2007

Notes taken on the ESPN broadcast of the Firestone Indy Japan 300 at Motegi, Japan aired on April 21, 2007.

(Insert Japanese word for "welcome!" here) to Japan. I hear (or imagine, I forget which) the Japanese fans dig the pressdog logo. Speaking of, shout out to my girl Lisa Russell who reports sporting a pressdog sweatshirt around Indianapolis and provoking a "we are green-green-green" from a random stranger. I wipe a manly tear over it. Get your pressdog stuff here. 100% of my meager profits on each item get plowed back into keeping the lights on here at pressdog world headquarters.

Enough shilling of the shirts! pressdog's beer of the race is, of course, Asahi. A Japanese delicacy that, like fugu blow fish sushi, can kill you if not prepared by expert brewmeisters. KIDDING. Asahi legal department, simmer down. Note to readers: please rush out and purchase many cases of Asahi. It's completely safe and highly tasty. "Ultra dry" as it says on the label.

Honda Declines to let Danica Go to the Can

Note to the low-functioning and the legal community -- this is all made up opinion.

Indy Racing League Superstar Danica Patrick reportedly is having trouble getting permission from Honda to sit on her own toilet seat.

"Anytime Danica wants to sit in or on anything that's not made by Honda, Honda has an issue with it," said an unnamed source close to the situation.

Recent press reports indicated that Danica got hosed out of a $2 million payday from AAMCO after Honda decided being an AAMCO spokesmodel would put Danica in too close of a proximity to non-Honda items.
