Honda Likes Sarah Fisher, Which is Never a Bad Sign

My girl Sarah Fisher is included in the latest nation-wide Honda commercial. View the video on Honda's site here. (Click on the "video" tab). The side of Sarah's head gets a quarter second of air and her car gets a bit more time. So, to say it "features" Sarah Fisher is a bit of a stretch, but still.

Honda seems to dig Sarah and her All-American-ness. It's never ever bad to have Honda dig you in the Indy Racing League.

I've heard and read the speculation that Sarah will start her own team in 2008. Not sure about that, except that a Fisher/Katherine Legge team (dubbed Kat-Fish by my boy Jeff at MyNameIsIRL.com) would be pretty freaking interesting.

Word, homeys, pressdog is in the hizzous. Rolling to West Des Moines Valley high school to pick up my eldest, a sophomore. That's me, representing in the parking lot. I park my flammin' hot hoopity Ford Winstar minivan and wait.

Now, since I'm wearing my old-school, white IndyCar Series shirt, the kind the playah's wear with the huge logo on the back, I figure I better just tip outside my fly van and give the peeps glimpse of The Symbol for Speed.

Ashley Force: Zero to 300 and Smokin' Hot

National Hot Rod Association Hotty Ashley Force blew everyone off the line to win the first annual ``Hottest Athlete'' poll on AOL Sports.

The Web site's users voted on the best-looking men and women in sports over several weeks and NHRA star Force beat out football hunk Tom Brady, as well as fellow motorsports competitor Danica Patrick for the honor. (Not that I'd bring it up, but Ashley went head-to-head with Danica in the hotness tournament and dropped her 67 percent to 33 percent.)

It's difficult to find a photo of Force in anything but a fire suit. Check this Q&A exchange from AOL:

DH: During the tournament, other women were routinely displayed in evening gowns and bikinis while you were almost always shown in a seven-layer fire suit. What does this tell us about how fans like to see their athletes?

AF: Well, it has a lot do with the fact that there aren't too many pictures of me in the evening gowns or bathing suits. I'm kind of more of a shy type. In my sport that would be completely inappropriate -- to show up at the track in a bikini. In drag racing we try not to make a big deal out of the whole the aspect of being a woman. We want to show that there’s much more than just the gender of the driver. There’s the team behind the driver, the car, the sponsors. We kind of mute out the whole woman side of it. Wearing my fire suit works best for me.

Props, congrats and Mazal Tov! to Sarah Fisher and Andy O'Gara who are getting married today. Since O'Gara rhymes with Sarah, Ms. Fisher had no plans to change her name, at least not in professional circles.

Leilani Münter Reveals Herself as Office Space Obsessed

This just in from Leilani Münter:

"Great to meet you at the track. I had a case of the Mondays on Sunday. When I was going to sleep last night I had a vision of myself talking to the therapist in Office Space saying, 'Isn't there a way that you can make me think I've been fishing all day?' ".

The Müntalicious one would like to be in the Indy Pro Series Festival of Carbon Fiber full time next year. It all depends upon, of course, sponsorship. I can see her in a red car with "Swingline" on the sidepods.

Da Matta on the Mend, Driving Like a Wildman through Brazil

Cristiano da Matta is recovering nicely after running into a DEER during a test at Elkhart Lake, WI a year ago.

An effing deer. I still can't get over that.
