Get ready for the double dip, kids, on the weekend of April 19 and 20.
You have two options for watching the Indy Japan 300 at Motegi:
Live at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Saturday, April 19 on ESPN (HD!)
Rebroadcast at 3 p.m. Eastern Saturday, April 19 on ESPN 2 (HD!).
There are 18 cars entered into the Motegi race, including Roger Yasukawa and Hideki Mutoh. Expect a human donut of Japanese media to follow their every move all weekend.
Tune in for the Champ Car swan song at Long Beach:
ESPNTV.com reports the broadcast will be Sunday, April 20 at 5:30 p.m. Eastern.
I'll have race notes all around, of course.
The Long Beach race is being billed as the Last Champ Car Race. The Panoz DP01s will come out of mothballs for one last go-round.
Not sure on the car count, but I hear it's around 20. Jimmy Vasser is getting back in a car for one race and I believe Paul Tracy will get out his chrome horn again. All the former Champ Car drivers who now compete in the IRL will be at Long Beach as well.
If you followed Champ Car at all in the past years, you should
tune in for the farewell race. Sounds like they are trying to make it a
salute to the fans. One last hurrah before we all huddle up for a
unificational group hug going forward.
After that split-race madness, the league comes back together for the second oval since mergification at Kansas on April 27, 5 p.m. Eastern.
I'll be posting from the most excellent Kansas Speedway for the IndyCar Unificational Ovulation Part II. I highly recommend Kansas Speedway and its sister track, Chicagoland, for an awesome IndyCar viewing experience. My peeps at Ticket City have some good seats available. Click on over and eyeball the offering. Pack your scanners, bring cash for tall-boy Track Beers and enjoy the 20+ car show!
The prices aren't bad. I saw some high rows. Got mine from Stub Hub for $30 in row 62. These are $50 face tickets. Gotta say that I always go down secondary market since this race is one of those silly package deals.

Same deal as Chicagoland. Ebay usually has tickets as well as the race approaches.
