Happy Birthday to me on Feb. 7.
All I want for my birthday is for you to go to Dollar General and start a festival of buying in support my fav driver, Sarah Fisher. (And to continue to show love to Vision Racing's Letters of Reference campaign!)
Nothing gets sponsors' attention like measurable return on an investment. So let's give some of that to Dollar General.
I've actually encouraged fans to do this for Sarah off and on for a couple of years now. The premise is simple: 1) Buy at Dollar General and 2) let Dollar General know what you've done.
If you want to have a measurable impact on supporting Sarah on the track, do this:
Buy at Dollar General -- Fisher Fans are super lucky that Sarah has a sponsor that we can easily support. It's not like she is sponsored by Caterpillar bulldozers which are kind of tough for the average fan to support via buying power.
Dollar General sells tons of stuff everyone buys every day. Shampoo, toilet paper, household cleaning stuff, snacks, underwear etc. etc. Find the closest Dollar General store HERE.
Send Dollar General a Copy of your Receipt -- This is incredibly key: make a copy of your sales receipt, write a brief letter expressing thanks for sponsoring Sarah Fisher and that you shopped at Dollar General exclusively because of their support, then ...
Snail mail your letter and receipt copy to:
Dollar General Stores
Marketing Department
100 Mission Ridge
Goodlettsville, TN 37072
I know, snail mail is old school costs you a 44-cent stamp. It's precisely because of the effort and 44-cent expenditure involved that paper mail has huge attention-getting power in corporate America. When you really want to deliver a message to a company, send a paper letter.
If you can't get up for the snail mail plan, send Dollar General a thank-you note online HERE. Be sure to mention how much you spent at Dollar General and give Sarah credit for bringing you to the store in the first place. Paper mail has the most impact, but every note of any kind is important.
I did all this last week. I'm sure I'll make another DG run very soon.
The beauty of this plan is you can do it for any driver who has a sponsor you can buy from. Go, buy, copy your receipt, send it to corporate HQ with a letter. Check the company's corporate Web site for their HQ snail mail address.
Let's stay vigilant, people. Vision Racing proved last week that the sponsor can pull the plug at any second. Let's make sure Dollar General knows we love them for supporting Sarah. (And be sure to support Vision's letter campaign too. Learn how here.)

And if you have to use evil plastic bags like I did, be sure to recycle! (Or Leilani Münter will be pissed at me.) Most grocery stores have a bag recycling bin.
Happy birthday to my fellow TrackForum member, Pressdog.
You are teh best Indy Car blogger ever from teh state of Iowa.
And, Obama is a liar.

Thanks, I think. I also appreciate your injecting politics into it. That's always pleasant.

Happy Birthday P'dog and nice resolutions. I'm not particularly a Danica fan, but I respect both her driving and marketing abilities.
