Macleod Signs with Venturini Motorsports

Alison Macleod, the “winningest female in USAC history,” is stepping into stock cars. Macleod has recently signed on with Venturini Motorsports for the 2010 and 2011 race seasons.

Macleod, 20-year-old driver from Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, has plans to move to North Carolina in May in order to be closer to the team and pursue sponsorship to race in local late model races and ARCA Racing Series events.

“I am really excited to be aligned with such a strong team,” said Macleod, who started racing go-karts at the age of 7. “After just a week in North Carolina at the Venturini shop I realized that this was a team devoted to developing drivers and winning races.

Tagliani Returns the Favor: Junqueira Will go FAZZT at Indy

Alex Tagliani is saying thanks Bruno Junqueira.

Bruno, who qualified a car in freakishly easy fashion for the 2009 Indy 500 only to give it up to regular driver Tagliani, will get a shot at the show thanks to Tag's new team, FAZZT racing.

The monsoons have passed, and we're about to get this party started. Confession: I have "I'm in Miami, Trick" by LMFAO (left) running through my head. Miami, St. Pete, whatever. It's all Florida to me. I heard this song and over and over during spring break in tony LA, although they changed the words to "I'm in LA, trick" for the LA market. Clever.

As the Chassis Turns

More curiouser and curiouser stuff going on in the Great Chassis Debate. I've said for, ah, a zillion hears that the appearance of the car ain't what's keeping people away. So now Roger Penske agrees with me.

Roger says in a story by Curty Cavin in the Mighty Indy Star: "I'm not sure (a new car) puts 50,000 more people in the stands. We need to promote the drivers, the teams and the sponsors."
