Conway Out with Back and Leg Fractures, RHR Will be Able to Drive at Texas

This just in from IMS PR:

MIKE CONWAY AND RYAN HUNTER-REAY MEDICAL UPDATE

Indy Racing League Director of Medical Services Dr. Michael Olinger gave the following update regarding IZOD IndyCar Series drivers Mike Conway and Ryan Hunter-Reay:

Mike Conway had surgery Sunday night to repair fractures to his lower left leg. He also has a soft tissue injury to his lower left leg and is anticipated to have another surgical procedure later this week. Additionally, Conway has a compression fracture of one of his thoracic vertebrae and is being fitted for a back brace, which he will wear for three months and will prevent him from racing.

Ryan Hunter-Reay is scheduled to have surgery today on his left thumb. After surgery, he will be fitted with a carbon fiber splint, which should allow him to participate at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend.

Get well soon to both RHR and Conway. Props and shout outs to all the developers of safety gear and to Dallara for building an incredibly safe car.

Welcome to Indy. My daughter graduated from high school today so I had to deploy the DVR. I pick it up with Jewel singing the national anthem while some random person is handing her a second mic. We're all professionals here. Jewel keeps right on singing, takes the second mic, doesn't know what to do with it, puts it in a mic stand without missing a note. Props to her.

Super Dave Lewandowski, official IndyCar.com content creator who holds the online record for most original posts in a day (98), went to New York City and Boston with the entire starting grid Monday and Tuesday.

Awesome! Another festival of non-passing. Something along the lines of a 3-mile, 39-turn wonder, I suppose. But I bet it will be a GORGEOUS FACILITY, which means IndyCar will be interested in parading -- er -- racing there.
