Sarah Fisher Goes Pink Again for Homestead Finale

MIAMI BEACH (Sept. 30, 2010)- Sarah Fisher, of Sarah Fisher Racing (SFR), brought a fleet of pink to Florida today in preparation for the Café do Brasil Indy 300 at Homestead-Miami Speedway (HMS) on Oct. 2. In partnership with the team's primary sponsor, Dollar General, Fisher has once again turned all of her branding pink for the season finale race to increase awareness of breast cancer and raise funds for Susan G. Komen for the Cure®.

New Trophy Introduction Enjoys Cleavage Accompaniment

Cameron the Izod Trophy Girl and a few assistant beauties helped introduce the new Izod IndyCar trophy pool side in Miami Tuesday. Immediate feedback on the trophy, which was created by acclaimed sculptor Ted Gall, was decidedly mixed.

Gall was going for the intertwined nature of human and machine. "We're not just a human form; we're what we use all the time," Gall said. "It used to be if you were a cowboy you'd ride a horse. Now we're really attached to wheels our whole lives. The arms are imploring; they're reaching out for that golden ring, for that big win."

HVM: All is Well, Simona Will Run at Miami

Crazy stuff going on and rumored to be going on at the HVM Racing shop recently -- signs posted, locks changed, guards patrolling etc. etc. -- were an "unfortunate misunderstanding," according to the team leader.

Here's a statement by Keith Wiggins of HVM:

"The situation with the landlord was an unfortunate misunderstanding and has since been resolved. We are in full swing in preparation for the season finale, at Homestead Miami Speedway, and we will be releasing exciting news of a new partner soon. Thank you for your interest in setting the record straight."

Your Danistar Weekend Viewing Guide and Contest Alert

Danica Patrick is double dipping at at the Monster Mile at Dover, Delaware this weekend.

Danica will race in the “Sunoco 150” NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race at Dover on Friday, Sept. 24. The K&N Pro Series East is billed as the "top developmental league" in NASCAR. If Nationwide is the NASCAR version of triple-A baseball, sounds like the K&N is double-A.

The Sept. 24 race will air tape-delayed on SPEED Oct. 7 at 6PM (EST), according to @danicaracing, a Twitter account operated by Patrick's "official Web site team."

Danica will turn around and race in the Nationwide race at Dover on Saturday, Sept. 25. Practice will air at 1 p.m. ET Friday with qualifying at 10:30 a.m. ET Saturday and the race at 3 p.m. ET Saturday. All on ESPN2.

Prior to the Nationwide race, fans can throng to a free question-and-answer session with Danica at the base of the Monster Monument at Victory Plaza, presented by AAA, at 12:45 p.m. Eastern. Story here.

From the Track, to the Truck, to Your TV

When the green flag drops at Homestead-Miami Speedway at around 7 p.m. Eastern on Oct. 2, it will be go time on the track … and in the truck.

Inside a nondescript semi-tractor trailer in the “TV compound” just outside the track, green-green-green transitions Versus producer Terry Lingner and his colleagues from the scripted, formatted, low-surprise world of pre-race, to the anything-can-happen realm of live sports.

Leilani Münter will fire up her green schwerve for the ARCA race at Kansas Speedway on Sept. 30, thanks to a partnership with Operation Free.

Welcome to the annual race we run to keep Honda happy. pressdog™ Beer of the Race is Asahi, my fav Japanese beer. "Super dry."

Highlights from the pre-race is Jack Arute sweltering in the usually hot Motegi fall, making his shirt look like some crazed Japanese chicks showered him with beer. Jack momentarily causes his elementary school teacher distress by saying Japan is in the southern hemisphere, and therefore approaching summer, not winter. Oops.
